Minister Marais expresses condolences after Neighbourhood Watch member is murdered

Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marais has expressed shock at the murder of a Neighbourhood Watch member in Makhaza, Cape Town, on Friday night.

The deceased was on patrol with the Makhaza Neighbourhood Watch at about 11 pm on Friday night in the eNkanini informal settlement when he was shot.

Minister Marais said, “I want to express my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of our slain Neighbourhood Watch member. This is a tragedy. He was trying to make Makhaza a safer place when he was killed. I urge any members of the public who may be able to assist the South African Police Service in the investigation into this attack."
