Minister Marais welcomes the relaunch of victim friendly room at Graafwater SAPS station
Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, welcomes the relaunch of the Victim Friendly Room at the Graafwater police station and the handover of dignity care packs. The care packs include toiletries, among other items. The relaunch of this facility and supply of these packs was made possible through the generosity of non-profit organisation Business Against Crime WC- a valuable partner to the Western Cape Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety and South African Police Service (SAPS).
The Victim Friendly Room will provide a safe space where victims of crime can be interviewed, and statements taken in a confidential, respectful, and dignified manner.
Minister Marais said, “I am extremely grateful for the generous donation by Business Against Crime WC. This facility and the care packs are intended to help victims and survivors of crime heal. We all have a role, not only in combatting crime, but also offering support in any way we can to those directly and indirectly impacted by this scourge. I urge the members of Graafwater SAPS to effectively utilise this facility.”
