Tackling Gangsterism and Organised Crime through Collaboration
Premier Alan Winde, Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, and Mark Shaw, Director of the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, will hold an online media briefing on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, to discuss the importance of partnerships in addressing the scourge of gangsterism and organised crime.
For years, the Western Cape Government has been a pioneer in promoting greater collaboration in combating crime. “We can only deal decisively with this issue if we work closely with the South African Police Service, private sector, municipalities, civil society, and faith-based organisations,” said Premier Winde.
The briefing will examine various initiatives the provincial government has undertaken with its partners to make the Western Cape safer.
