RMI support for the WCED Skills Competition
DEDAT secured the partnership with Retail Motor Industry (RMI) to support WCED to improve in-school interventions to better support the talent pipeline existing into post-schooling into the automotive sector.
One of the key collaborative areas realized was for RMI and its affiliated member bodies were given at the WCED Skills Competition hosted from the 29th to -30th of August 2025.
This entailed providing judges for the Mechanical Technology component of the competition, donating tool kits to the first and second prize winners, as well as advising school learners of the job opportunities available in the Automotive industry. This participation by the RMI members allowed for industry participation, guidance, and advice on the skills level of school learners, as well as information regarding Project Dineo, a three-year apprenticeship opportunity available to learners' post-school.
