Western Cape TVET Student Entrepreneurs Shine in Allan Gray Makers Intercollege Challenge 2025
The spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship was alive and thriving as the six TVET colleges, proudly sponsored by the Department, took part in the regional Allan Gray Makers Intercollege Challenge 2025.
After an intensive two-day bootcamp hosted at the UWC Science & Innovation Centre (6 August) and RLabs (7 August), the student entrepreneurs brought their bold ideas to the regional stage. On 8 August 2025, Northlink College buzzed with energy as the students pitched their ventures in front of judges, peers, and supporters during the regional rounds.
The Western Cape proved to be a hub of entrepreneurial talent, with three out of the four finalists for the national competition coming from the Western Cape. These remarkable young innovators include:
- Trade Business: Siphokuhle Mcotshana – College of Cape Town
- Tech Business: Junior Vaughan – Northlink College
- General Business: Rashaad Sambaba – False Bay College
Their achievement not only highlights the entrepreneurial strength within the province but also sets the stage for an inspiring showdown as they head to the finals on 5 September 2025 in Gauteng.
Stay tuned as these bright student entrepreneurs represent the Western Cape on a national platform, proving that the next wave of business leaders is already here and ready to make their mark.
