We offer a comprehensive, free HIV care system designed to support you at every stage, from testing to treatment. Whether you're living with HIV, at risk, or simply seeking peace of mind, our services are built around dignity, confidentiality, and accessibility.  
 

Our services include:  

• Free HIV testing: Available at all our clinics. Regular testing is important because early detection is crucial in suppressing the virus. 
• Antiretroviral therapy (ART): Suppresses the virus to undetectable levels, making it untransmittable. You can read more about it here.

• Counselling and support: Trained professionals offer free guidance on treatment, disclosure, and living positively. 
• Referral to specialist care: For complex cases or when you have co-infections, like TB.  
   

How to access HIV services   

Knowing your status and accessing HIV services in the Western Cape is simple and stigma-free. Visit your nearest primary healthcare clinic.  

• Ask a healthcare worker for an HIV test.  
• If positive, start ART immediately. If negative but at risk, ask about PrEP. Don’t worry, our healthcare teams are ready to guide and support you. 
• Attend regular viral load checks to monitor your health.  

What to avoid:  

• Don’t delay testing. Early detection leads to better health outcomes. 
• Don’t skip or stop your medication. 
• Don’t rely on myths or misinformation. Get your facts from trusted sources like the Western Cape Department Health and Wellness website, National Department Health and Wellness, or WHO. You can also ask your healthcare worker.
• Don’t isolate yourself. Support is available.

A new way to protect yourself from HIV

Lenacapavir (LEN) is a new, long-acting HIV prevention option that gives you protection with just one injection every six months. It offers you an alternative to taking a daily pill, giving you more choice, convenience and control over your health. In the Western Cape, Lenacapavir is available at selected health facilities to support you to stay healthy and HIV-negative.
