Minister Sileku takes a ride on new GO GEORGE Route 11 and meets commuters

Western Cape Minister of Mobility, Isaac Sileku, travelled on GO GEORGE's new Route 11 between Thembalethu and the Garden Route Mall this morning (8 June), where he met commuters and heard firsthand how the service is helping them get to work, school, shops, and other important destinations.

Route 11, which was recently launched by the Western Cape Mobility Department and George Municipality, is the third GO GEORGE route serving Thembalethu and marks an important step in expanding access to public transport for the community.

It was introduced following requests from residents and provides a direct link between Thembalethu and the Garden Route Mall. The route makes travel easier by reducing the need for multiple bus transfers and improving access to opportunities.

During the trip, Minister Sileku spoke to commuters about their experiences and the difference the new route is making in their daily lives.

" During the journey, I spoke to a commuter who told me how much easier it has become to travel directly to the Garden Route Mall without having to change buses along the way. This is another example of public transport being shaped by the needs of residents, and about helping residents get where they need to go safely, affordably, and reliably," said Minister Sileku.

The route also strengthens connections to the wider GO GEORGE network, giving passengers better access to destinations across George.

The Western Cape Government remains committed to improving public transport services that connect residents to opportunities and make daily travel easier.
