Promotion of Access to Information (PAIA)

The Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), Act No. 2 of 2000, is South African legislation that gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information. It enables individuals to request information held by both public and private bodies, promoting transparency and accountability. PAIA also requires these bodies to compile manuals outlining their records and procedures for accessing information.
